Susan has provided training seminars and programs since 1994 for various state, local and federal law enforcement agencies focusing on stress management and critical incident response and reactions. She is serving as a critical incident responder for agencies in Alabama and across the United States and has recently returned from Germany and England where she provided training for the United States Air Force Europe. She served as a Consulting Clinician for 5 weeks in New York City with POPPA (Police Organization Providing Peer Assistance) providing assistance and training to officers with the NYPD, post September 11, 2001. She has been a guest instructor at Annual Training Conferences for several prestigious organizations, including The Federal Bureau of Investigation, International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors, SWAT Roundup and the International Aviation Security Academy and Conference sponsored by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int'l (ALPA). Susan is considered to be one of the nations leading experts in the specialized field of Stress Management in Law Enforcement and serves as a Consultant to many law enforcement agencies and academies across the country. She is certified in Forensic Hypnosis and is also a Train the Trainer for the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. She currently is a fulltime Associate Professor at Herzing College in Birmingham Alabama, in the State of Alabama's first Bachelor of Science Degree in Homeland Security and Public Safety.

Susan obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina and a Master's Degree of Science in Counseling and Human Development from Troy State University in Montgomery. She is a Fellow with the American Institute of Stress and is a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress through the American Academies of Experts in Traumatic Stress. She is also the President/Founder of Under The Shield, Inc., a non profit business providing free counseling and other support services to emergency services personnel and their families.
