Training
Our training is centered around The Simons Theory of the Psychological Garbage Can and is based on the First Responder Lifestyle and explains Post Traumatic Stress (PTS) as an injury.
Training is offered in two sections; Supervisors or those who want to become Supervisors, the second training is available for all First Responders, as well as their spouses/significant others.
The Supervisor training prepares them to identify the early precursors of stress and then equip them with the tools and resources needed to assist those under their command. The result ultimately creates a better officer and saves one of the department’s most valuable assets, an employee, while lessening the department’s exposure to liability! This course provides critical information to combat the toxic stress that destroys marriages, careers, and lives, all too often leading to suicide. Learn how to help others take control of this kill and live a healthier life by “TAKING OUT THE GARBAGE.”
Supervisory
This 8-hour training from Under the Shield goes beyond awareness to provide true suicide prevention for first responders. Unlike traditional programs, it includes spouses and significant others—the first line of defense—equipping families with the tools to recognize warning signs, build resilience, and support their heroes before crisis strikes. Vetted by agencies nationwide, this training is designed to save lives, strengthen families, and protect those who protect us all.
